'Self-portrait'
Samkopf found 2002, the UNESCO "Year of the Mountains", a good occasion to continue his work in the Norwegian mountains (he has earlier released the two CDs "Maradalen Walk", with recordings of walking, and "Mountain listening", which is five portraits of people listening). Last fall he made the CD "Music for large Mountain and Vibraphone". together with the dutch composer Floris van Manen. Together with Egil Martin Kurdol they stayed 7 days in a mountain camp, 1300 m above sea level, playing and recording. The result is a 79 minutes one track CD, where the sounds of the mountain and the sounds of the vibraphone have equal importance. Listening takes time.
