The Coalface soundtrack

The recordings arrived over the internet, haunting, strange and beautiful, mysterious or funny, each one a kind of Chinese whisper as the musicians worked only from their allocated written description of each bird's call, a mnemonic or onomatopoeia sourced from field guides and birdwatchers. This soundtrack penetrates the Coalface mask and Coal-ships-shoes, with ten channels of sound through small speakers throughout the work.
